Dunfermline have not won at Ibrox since 1972 and on this performance it could be a very long wait before the visitors record their next victory.
Rangers strolled to victory without having to over-exert themselves prior to what will be a far more demanding match against Stuttgart in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The home side were three ahead by half time thanks to goals from Steven Thompson, Michael Mols and Shota Arveladze. Nuno Capucho added a fourth in the second half as Rangers played out time.
The Ibrox side made an early breakthrough when, from Michael Ball's pass, Thompson turned cleverly before curling in his shot which took a deflection off Scott Wilson on it's way into the corner of the net.
Thompson limped off shortly afterwards to be replaced by Capucho. Ball then hit a snapshot which Derek Stillie did well to turn round to his post before Rangers went two up.
Henning Berg's pass found Mols in a suspiciously offside position but the Dutch striker did not hesitate as he struck the ball home under the keeper to record his fifth league goal in five matches.
Arveladze then put the home side further ahead just before the interval when the he nipped in front of a static Dunfermline defence to guide a Mikel Arteta free-kick home.
After the break, the visitors moved Lee Bullen up front to aid a beleaguered Stevie Crawford with Berg being replaced by Paolo Vanoli for the home team.
Dunfermline at last showed more aggression with Andy Tod's effort being deflected away for a corner, but Scott Wilson's header lacked the power to trouble Stefan Klos in the Rangers goal.
Rangers completed the scoring when Mols skilfully turned Wilson before crossing for Capucho to side foot the ball home from ten yards.
