Kilmarnock pulled off a surprise win and at the same time ended Rangers' unbeaten run in the League since Walter Smith returned as manager.
Although there was nothing at stake in this match it was the visitors that looked the hungrier side. Steven Naismith notched the goal which ended Kilmarnock's run of 22 games without a victory against the Ibrox side.
Rangers started slowly and Alan McGregor had to race from his line to clear from Naismith.
Neither side created any real openings and Charlie Adam blazed a shot high over which rather summed up both teams' efforts.
Rangers brought on Chris Burke for Brahim Hemdani at the start of the second half and the substitute nearly scored when he ran on to Nacho Novo's pass but his effort drifted narrowly wide.
Kilmarnock opened the scoring with a well-worked goal. Colin Nish nodded the ball down to Naismith whose pass found Grant Murray and, from his cross, Naismith struck a first-time shot sweetly past McGregor without the keeper even moving.
Rangers' play became increasingly frantic as they sought an equalizer and Adam's curling free-kick was held by Alan Combe just under the bar.
Rangers sent on youngsters Steven Lennon and Andrew Shinnie towards the end and it was Lennon who tested Combe with a powerful shot but the home team could not find a way through.
