Rangers claimed the three points that they so desperately needed with their game against Inverness CT this afternoon but it was no easy stroll.

A Dado Prso strike on 16 minutes was all that separated the sides at full-time in a match in which the visitors harried Alex McLeish's team into mistake after mistake.

Inverness CT were the first to threaten when on ten minutes Barry Wilson shot into the sidenetting after a simple mistake by Rangers French defender Jean-Alain Boumsong. However, Craig Moore replied soon after for Rangers, his header from Chris Burke's corner scrambled wide by Caley Thistle keeper Mark Brown.

From the resulting corner, Gers took the lead. Burke again was the provider and Moore again rose high above the visiting defence to head the ball goalwards.

On this occasion Prso was able to direct the ball onwards and into the top left-hand corner with his outstreched right leg.

Juanjo and Paolo Vanoli exchanged chances in the following minutes before Inverness CT almost grabbed an unlikely equaliser on 32 minute.

Maurice Ross made a hash of his headed backpass to Stefan Klos and the German keeper did incredibly well to tip the ball on to the crossbar. Moore then cleared the ball for a corner.

On 35 minutes Rangers lost midfielder Dragan Mladenovic to injury before Boumsong rattled another Burke corner against the crossbar.

Right on half-time, Nacho Novo headed just wide for the Gers when he connected with Prso's perfect cross.

After the break, Inverness CT had another chance to score. On 55 minutes, Richard Hart raced through on goal only to pull his shot inches wide of Klos' left-hand post.

Fernando Ricksen hit a 30-yard free-kick at the other end which was well tipped over by Brown.

In stoppage time, Inverness CT's Grant Munro was dismissed for a second bookable offence after fouling Prso when the Croatian striker was through on goal.
