After a momentous week such as this it's really hard to concentrate on a simple game of football knowing that Hearsay have split up, but being the Trojan that I am, I'll try.
I'm not being facetious when I describe it as momentous because just like home taping all those years ago, Hearsay were killing music. However, it's a sweeter type of music I'm hoping to hear this weekend, the music of victory songs emanating from the visitors end of Castle Doom this Sunday.
This really is a momentous game as it means much more than three points. A lot of you may dismiss that as meaningless hyperbole but I believe the result in this type of fixture has a lasting psychological effect, even more so if we can secure victory. Not only would we be beating them on their own turf, we would be opening up a four point gap and continuing Mr McLeish's hoodoo.
In all Premier League meetings we just about hold the edge with 38 victories to their 37, while 33 have been drawn.
At Ibrox things are much rosier with 24 wins out of 54, 17 draws and 13 defeats but CarParkhead isn't quite so pretty with 14 wins out of 54, and 16 draws although the dismal eighties count for a lot of that.
This would suggest to me that Sunday will be close and Celtic seem to be returning to form at just the right time although, Zizkov excepted, our form has been mostly good also, with the team grinding out results on the occasions that their performances have been sub-optimal.
A superb win at Tannadice last week should ahve the team set up nicely for this game.
I know all about our dismal League record over the last few years but the gaffer is still unbeaten against them and I expect to see this continue on Sunday. I'm taking Rangers to win 2-1 or at worst draw 1-1, and don't be surprised if Pacy Pete is responsible for a few thousand crisis loans in the East of the city when he sticks the decider away.
