Scotland 1 (Cuthbert 69) Norway 4 (Skjelbred 26, Mathisen 55, Elyounoussi 73, Kleiven 90)
Attendance 3,036
Most certainly the Scots were far from at full strength - absent for one reason or another were the likes of Steven Naismith, Ross McCormack, Mark Reynolds, and Steven Fletcher, but there was no denying that the Norwegians were a class apart.
The young Scots made all the early running - and Calum Elliott might have opened the scoring in nine minutes when his angled shot from a Graham Dorrans cross flashed across the face of goal.
Scott Arfield did well to dispossess Steffen Hagen in twenty minutes only to see his 25-yard drive held by visiting goalkeeper Lasse Staw.
Four minutes later Alex Pearce's header from a Charlie Mulgrew free-kick was clawed away by Staw.
The opening goal when it arrived however came at the other end - Per Skjelbred being released through the middle by Tarik Elyounoussi before coolly chipping the ball into the net in 26 minutes.
Ten minutes into the second-half it was 2-0 when Elyounoussi streaked away from the halfway line before turning the ball across goal for Alexander Mathisen to turn home from close range.
Things went from bad to worse for the home side within sixty seconds when Elliott, having been yellow-carded two minutes after the restart for a foul on the outstanding Vadim Demidov then received a second yellow and subsequent red when he again went right through the same player. It was a ridiculous challenge considering this was supposed to be a friendly, and Scotland were now right up against it.
Rangers youngster Steven Lennon was introduced to the fray in 61 minutes, replacing Dorrans.
The Scots reduced the deficit eight minutes later when Scott Cuthbert netted following a solo run.
It was a false dawn however for Elyounoussi made it 3-1 with a fine overhead kick in 73 minutes after home goalkeeper Greg Fleming of Gretna had parried Tore Reginiussen's shot.
Lennon was making an impression since his introduction - two minutes later his driving run at the heart of the Norwegian defence ended with a twenty-yard drive that was turned wide by Staw.
Elyounoussi however was by a country mile the outstanding player afield - twice he came close to adding a fourth goal in the closing stages with surging runs at the heart of the Scots defence, then in 87 minutes his cross found Endre Knudsen whose chip was headed off the line by Mulgrew.
Finally, it was 4-1 in injury time when Elyounoussi laid the ball off into the path of substitute Christer Kleiven who netted with a twenty-yard drive.
