Weekend horse racing advice

There are one or two interesting races on Saturday. Firstly the
Weatherby’s Super Sprint over 6 Furlongs or two year olds at Newbury
3.25. The one I like her is the Royal Ascot winner Titus Alone. He won
really well that day and is unbeaten in three runs. He looks to have an
excellent chance here.

Richard Hannon has a quite superb record in this event and it often
pays to give his representatives close scrutiny. Another to consider is
recent York nursery winner Triskaidekaphobia who was impressive under
top weight that day. However, I’m happy to go along with Titus Alone.

The opener at Newbury at 2.15 can also go to a recent York winner in
Silent Times. I saw his first race at Ayr where he was second to a
very decent type. He won his next race by 5 lengths and looks one to
follow until he is beaten. This is a stronger event and Dickensian,
gram and Yankie George probably have stronger form, but I was very
taken with the manner of Silent Times victory and can’t desert him.

The 4.0 at Newbury is a listed race over 1m 2 furlongs and I’ll take a
chance on Leporello here. He was a decent performer last year before
picking up an injury. His comeback run a fortnight ago was really only
satisfactory but Swinburn’s stable has started firing since then and it
is not unreasonable to expect quite a large degree of improvement for
that run. Big Bad Bob looks the obvious danger in quite an open event
with Grand Passion, Mister Genepi and Belenus others likely to figure.

At Newmarket, Michael Stoute seems to have found a decent opportunity
for Asawar. This race is restricted to fillies and mares and she can
take full advantage of that. She hasn’t won over the distance of 1m
anf a half but she promises to stay and improve at this trip. Autumn
Wealth may prove to be her biggest danger while Shayste is another to
consider.

The Curragh stages a group 3 event over mile also at 4 o’clock and I
expect Democratic Deficit to show has class here. He has run well in
the English 2’000 guineas and has won since then. He has a penalty to
carry which will make this more difficut but he should still be too
strong forCupid’s Glass, Joint Aspiration anmd Tucker. The lighty
raced Milesius and MacDuff are likely to cause most problems.
