Its that time of year when bookies take a few extra pounds off us. Usually
they come up with a wholse series of daft bets designed to seperate you
from your Christmas Bonus. This year is no exception, but i've noticed a
few that might just be worth a wee flutter.
Do you think the pressure of the last few weeks is getting to the manager
of our rivals? Hills have him at 3/1 to manage a Premiership side in 2003.
With the situation at Leeds looking shaky, Man Utd still to announce a
successor to Ferguson, and a few other managers down there struggling, it
could be worth a few pounds.
Another one to catch my eye, and i'm sure yours too is Ranegrs to remain
unbeaten, with McLeish in charge, all of 2003 against Celtic, in 90 mins
play. Priced up at 9/2, and look at 2002. THe final one is definitely one
to avaoid, and thats both Rangers and Celtic to join the English
Premiership. Even at 100/1 its not attractive.
A couple of bets over the next week to keep your eye on would be, Florida
Pearl in Boxing Day's King George at Kempton. Attractively priced at 5/1,
and I'll be having a few on that one. The following day at Chepstow,
Jock's Cross is 20/1 in the Welsh National. Cant see it winning, but
paying out on first four, its worth an each way bet.
The Mersey Derby is on Sunday, and a couple of 1st scorers caught my eye,
Wayne Rooney is at 7/1. With the fairytale career he's had so far, it's
not out of the question. Steven Gerrard is very good value at 16/1. He
hits a fair shot, and in a tight game, could be the man to set the Reds on
their way.
Finally, can you imagine England managing to draw one of the two final
test matches? With Shane Warne out injured, it's a possibility. Australia
to win the series 4-0 is 9/4.
Have a Merry Christmas, and a Prosperoue New year!
