Wee Prime Minister joins Airdrie board

Former Rangers and Airdrie player Ian McMillan and former Rangers Vice-Chairman Jack Gillespie have been appointed to the new board of Airdrie Football Club.


Airdrie said in an official announcement that:

"We have carefully selected the board members and roles to focus on our mission and values - accessing and appealing to all sectors of the Scottish Football Community, and to the local community."

The club described their tow appointees thus:

Ian McMillan - Honorary President
'The wee Prime Minister' has lived every Airdrie boy's dream, when his sublime talents were recognised by the international selection committee and Ian fulfilled a lifetime ambition by playing for his country. His sportsmanship, in tandem with his skills, made him an extremely popular Airdrieonians player. He is very well respected by everyone in football and will be a great asset to the board, in terms of linking the future of the new Airdrie FC to the history of the football town.

Jack Gillespie - Advisor to the Board
Jack has been in the game for over 50 year, at all levels. Jack's last position in football was Vice Chairman of Rangers Football Club, up to his retirement in 1996. Jack has had exposure to all areas of the football world and has a great understanding of how clubs work and perform. He will carry out an advisory role to the board, and offer assistance and guidance when needed.
