U19 League - Partick Thislte 2-3 Rangers
Partick Thistle 2 Rangers 3
An injury time winner from Gary McKenzie gave Rangers
a 3-2 win over Partick Thistle in Saturday's SPL
Youth League fixture at McKenna Park, the home of St.
Anthony's.
It was a game the Ibrox youngsters should have had
secured long before the end, however, in what was a
top versus bottom clash.
Ross McCormack had opened the scoring for Rangers in
43 minutes with a turn and shot from the edge of the
box, then the scorer turned creator in 56 minutes with
a cross that was headed home by McKenzie.
The game appeared as good as won, but seven minutes
later Adam Strachan reduced the deficit for Thistle,
whose home game this actually was, even though Ibrox
is much closer to the 'Ants' ground than Firhill.
Unbelievably with just fifteen minutes remaining the
scores were level when Alan Hutchison went through to
equalise.
The loss of two precious points in the title race (for
only the second time during the current campaign)
seemed inevitable as the game entered injury time, but
in the 92nd minute a superb cross from substitute
Charlie Adam was met with a bullet header from
McKenzie to secure a vital win.
