TOUGH UNDER 19 DRAW FOR SCOTLAND

Spain are generally regarded as the pre-tournament favourites, having a
fine record at this level, while Portugal and Turkey are also regular
qualifiers and previous winners.

Scotland coach Tommy Wilson, who was at today's draw in Poznan, Poland,
is upbeat about Scotland's prospects in the tournament, and said: "It is
a tough group but we need fear no-one, having already knocked out the
champions, France. I am really looking forward to it, this is a great
chance to play against the top teams in Europe." He pointed out that
Scotland have already defeated Portugal this season (3-1 in December).

Scotland open against the Portuguese on 18 July, then face Spain on 20
July and Turkey on 23 July. The top two teams progress to the
semi-finals, but there is an added incentive for all the countries as
the top six nations (ie top three in each group) will qualify for next
year's FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Canada.

The other group saw Poland, Austria, Belgium and Czech Republic drawn
together.
