Thringstone RSC has its origins in the 60s when there was significant
migration from Scotland to work in the local coalmines, a Scottish influence
that remains long after the pits have shut down and exemplified by the quite
magnificent premises of Thringstone RSC Social Club. A dedicated Rangers
venue that, with its two function rooms and bar, provides a local meeting
point and function venue for the local community. The bar and beyond walls
are decorated in Rangers memorabilia, some modern, some for the history
buffs.
The club is holding its annual RSC bash on Saturday 19th June. Tickets are
priced at £20 which covers a 5 course meal, entertainment from Corby Purple
Star flute band, disco and Rangers guest, ex-player Tam Forsyth. The night
starts at 5.30 for 6. If interested in attending you can call the bluenose
proprietor, John Shirkey, on 01530-222737. John has also extended a warm
welcome to any passing bluenose or coach parties, perhaps for a very early
breakfast (early opening can be arranged) for any buses travelling to the
Fulham game.
Always nice to see the name of Rangers cherished and maintained outside
Scotland's borders - I wish them a great night.
