Bears floating about but nothing to talk about.
We had a few beers in the Trafford just across the road from Old Trafford
where we met our Manc pal in there - three bouncers on the door at 1pm and
all their windows boarded up! The press down here seem to be living in a
time warp thinking that things will be like the 1974 trip. When you tell
them that at Ibrox we're getting less than one arrest per game they get
freaked out.
Punters in the bar were almost outnumbered by press, radio and
photographers. The Major and I raised a smile when the first two songs on
the juke box were "Come Into The Parlour If You're Irish" and "Danny Boy"
!! Punters decent enough but the pub's a tip with mucho sticky carpet.
Later we popped across town to City's new ground. Very impressive it is too
- very much like the Amsterdam Arena. In the City Social bar and diner we
meet a guy at the bar who's a life-long City fan but who married a Bridgeton
girl and lived for a while in Drumchapel.
Lunch saw us tucking into sausage and mash served by the lovely manageress
Scouse Spice. They're doing a special for games at £50 plus VAT which
includes a City match ticket, meal and parking space. Might be worth
considering when we have a free day.
Tonight it's curry heaven.
