Those of us with the patience to follow (follow) the ongoing planned takeover of Rangers by Craig Whyte will have long ago given up on the idea of the dea being settled within "X number of hours."
We've had 36, 48, and today the BBC seem to think Chairman Alastair Johnston has told them it will be settled within 24.
It's a pity, then, that they don't appear as yet to be quoting him thus.
However, the quotes attributed to AJ are interesting and perhaps do indicate that the finishing line may actually, really, be in sight.
"A great deal of work has been done by the board and I'm very proud of that.
I'm confident that the efforts of the board have improved the deal significantly for the benefit of the club. Our views will come out in the future and I'm comfortable with that, but I don't want to stand in the way of progress. I will resign as intended on May 16th but will be working hard until then to make sure Rangers secure the SPL title.
After that I will go back to being the club's number one fan."
Make of that what you will, but with Whyte in Scotland today we may finally be near the end.
Whether that will be good for Rangers remains to be seen. As fans, we may hope and assume the best but we remain relatively powerless as the Club is passed from one individual to another.
