LAST WEEK'S DEBACLE
A couple of 'coupon busters' put paid to last weeks recommended bets, another couple of weeks like that and I will be getting assurances that the 'Chairman has absolute confidence' in me.

I don't really fancy Southampton to win at Newcastle but I am sticking with our 5 just the same. The 5 are Southampton 10/3,Sheffield United 10/11, QPR 11/8, Hull 5/4 & Peterhead 6/4.

Blackburn 6/4. I am sticking with Blackburn this weekend, but if you are reading this, Souness, it's yer last chance. Blackburn do not have a great record at Elland Road but in recent times neither do Leeds. Leeds were dismal last weekend and there is no reason to expect an improvement until Mr Reid gets the bullet, which will be sometime soon.
Wolves 2/1. Paul Ince called Mark Lawrenson a 'Prick' at the weekend, spot on Paul. Wolves picked up only their 2nd point v Bolton at the weekend but by all accounts were unlucky not to get 3 points. Man City remain unpredictable. I think Wolves can get 3 points on Saturday, they have a good record against Man City at Molineux, and maybe they are beginning to get it together.
Swindon 2/1. Swindon are undefeated away from home this season and are sitting one point off the top of Div 2. Away to Bristol City will not be easy but I think it's worth a punt.
Swansea 4/6. Swansea have won 5 out of 5 at home this season. 4/6 is a very generous price for them to make it 6 from 6 against Lincoln. Lincoln are sitting and division and I can't see anything other than a home win here. This weekends banker.
Hibs 11/8. Partick started badly and have fallen further behind every week. If Hibs can't pick up 3 points at Firhill 'Fat Bob' will really start to feel the pressure. I don't think the Jags will emerge from this one with any points.

Spread Betting
There will be all sorts of markets on offer for this weeks Old Firm game and while my inclination is to avoid betting on these games there could be some value. The bookings points market is likely to kick off pretty high, about 60-64 I guess and a potential loss of £64 if there are no yellow or red cards will scare off some punters. I will be having a punt on it though.
The very worst I can forsee is that there are only 4 or 5 bookings and therefore a small loss. At best 7 or 8 yellows and a couple of reds and we are printing money.
The recommended bet is going to be Arteta 'Goal Minutes' again. A spread of about 16-18 is not too generous but there is a fair chance of a penalty getting awarded in this fixture so I recommend a £1 BUY.
Last weeks spread bet was a disaster with only one booking in the Newcastle v Arsenal game giving us a loss of £30.
