As the winter mist swept lowly across the heated pitch with the temperature at a numbing -2 one player obviously felt at home in the arctic conditions, 'Gers Scandanavian midfielder Thomas Kindbendiksen, who turned in a dazzling man-of-the-match display to warm the cockles of the Rangers contingent amongst the hardy 54 spectators who braved hypothermia.

The match took a tragic turn early on when after only 7 minutes 'Gers Steven Kinniburgh and Dons Peter Pawlett accidentally clashed in the middle of the park. Both players required further treatment and had to be substituted, Ness replacing the left back and McRobbie replacing the visiting midfielder.

Both teams were putting a lot of effort into the match early on and Efrem had a great chance to break the deadlock but the Cypriot's shot struck the crossbar.

Soon afterwards Norwegian Kindbendiksen played a perfect pass to John Fleck who burst through the Red line, rode a desperate tackle, before unleashing an unstoppable shop high into the corner of the net to put the league leaders a goal up after 10 minutes.

The home defence were being kept busy at the back as McRobbie and Paton were linking up well for the young Dons but the formidable Harvey and Wilson coped with confidence.

Kindbendiksen was to put the home side further ahead on 21 minutes when he collected the ball following a throw in and produced a fantastic finish when he curled the ball past the helpless Bateman from the edge of the 18 yard box.

That goal signalled a mini onslaught on the visitors as 5 minutes later Bagci set up John Fleck and the diminutive striker finished with aplomb for his second of the afternoon.

Two minutes after that Danny Wilson rose to meet a corner kick and his header squeezed over the line past the despairing Dons to put the hosts four goals up.

The gallant visitors still kept plugging away and Gallacher did well to hold Kurrant's high shot.

Kindbendiksen was having a ball in midfield and after a great run set up Bagci to add to the scoring but the Swede shot narrowly over.

As the match entered injury time for the first half Ross Perry broke down the right and sent a fabulous cross to the feet of the unmarked Bagci, only on this occasion Bateman pulled off a terrific one handed save to turn the ball round for a corner.

The frustration was beginning to show as the Reds had no answer to the light blue avalanche of pressure, frustration which resulted in Greig Lamberty being cautioned by referee Rodney Marshall following a late scything tackle on Efrem.

Half Time - Rangers 4 Aberdeen 0

The second half was a lot more even as Aberdeen shored up their defence at half time and made it a lot more difficult for Rangers to increase the scoring, however the Grampian side didn't bank for the aerial prowess of the Murray Park defenders when a Fleck corner was met by the head of the other half of the dynamic duo, Ross Harvey, who bulleted home the ball to put the 'Gers five up after 59 minutes.

When the forwards did breach the Red back line they found Bateman in terrific form as he saved firstly from Stirling, following a dazzling run, and moments later Flecks netbound shot was denied again by the Aberdeen keeper.

With only 6 minutes of the match remaining disaster struck at the back for the home side as Harvey was caught in possession and the Dons best player of the afternoon, substitute Callum McRobbie, picked up on the error and lobbed Gallacher from 18 yards to give some consolation to the travelling side and their frozen supporters.

As the match drew to its conclusion Andy Little made a lung bursting run down the right and sent over powerful low cross for the onrushing Fleck to get his hat trick and restore the five goal advantage but the little strikers brave attempt went inches wide.

When the final whistle went it signalled the end of 2007 for the Under 19 side, a year which will be recorded as a vintage period following the Murray Park starlets success in bringing the League title to the Auchenhowie Complex, along with the Scottish Youth Cup and even success in Europe in the shape of the prestigious Doetinchem Youth Tournament in Holland.
