Sergio Porrini's team, Alessandria, have also been caught up in the financial turmoil enveloping the game worldwide. This historic club, celebrating its 90th anniversary, risks being overwhelmed by an econmic crisis.
The entrepreneur, Antonio Boiardi the President of the club who has launched the career of Gianni Rivera and other champions, has symbolically given the keys of the club to Mayor Mara Scagni. He also wrote an open letter saying that there are people interested in taking the club forward and that the keys are in his hands.
For the good of the fans and the city he wants him to help keep the club alive. However, time is short, the players haven't been paid since July and are threatening legal action. According to Boiardi, the club owes suppliers 300,000 Euros, 240,000 to the players and 25,000 a month to the bank.
This isn't debt on a Fiorentina or Lazio scale, let's hope that a buyer can be found for the team as it would be a shame for for the town and Sergio if they go out of business.
