Scottish Grand National

The big race betting event of the weekend is the Scottish Grand National at Ayr. Not the same size of field as its Aintree cousin, but still hard going over 4 miles. Some to keep an eye our for include:

Chief Dan George : This horse has won his last two outings, albeit over much shorter distances, but right now is attracting a healthy amount of money and is favourite. Only 7/1, but with most bookmakers.

Tricky Trickster : Winner of the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup at Cheltenham this year, this horse is proven at this distance and may represent a better bet. Generally available at 8/1.

West End Rocker : Was an early favourite, but has just changed owners, so it would be wise to wait to see if this horse runs at all! Can be got at 10/1, but get a non-runner-no-bet on him, just to be safe

That's Rhythm : Looking good for an outside bet and winner of eight of it's last nine outings. That's Rhythm will like what good, dry conditions so if the rain stays away this is an each way bet that is worth taking. Available at 14/1 in most places. At ¼ odds first four, its a decent shout.

Happy, and lucky, Punting
