Berti Vogts has named an intriguing squad for Scotland's Future Team
friendly against Northern Ireland on 20 May.
SCOTLAND FUTURE SQUAD NAMED
The match starts the build-up to Scotland's Euro 2004 qualifier against
Germany, and the national coach explained the background: "We start our
preparation for the match against Germany with the Future Team
international against Northern Ireland. I have asked mainly the
English-based players to take part in this match, which is essential to
keep up their level of match fitness, but I also want some Scottish
based players to be involved to give them added experience."

The players will stay together for two days after the Northern Ireland
match for additional training, and Berti Vogts then plans to name his
final squad to play against New Zealand (on 27 May) and Germany (7
June). He will also check on the progress of other Scottish players, in
particular those from Celtic and Rangers who have cup finals to play,
and those who are involved in the English play-offs.

The 22 man squad is a mixture of A and Under 21 squad players, as the
Scotland Under 21 team also has a UEFA qualifier against Germany, on 6
