The Fans Against Criminalisation group is to launch an iTunes single on the 9th of February supposedly to raise awareness about Scottish football legislation.
The tune is called “Roll Of Honour” and is a tribute to the ten IRA and INLA suicide victims who starved themselves to death in 1981.
A statement from FAC claims “This particular song is a ballad about civil resistance and a struggle for basic human rights.” An image of girls with flowers in their hair singing Kumbaya while requesting a new hoose fae the cooncil is not the one I immediately associate with two murderous organisations responsible for the death of thousands.
FAC’s website describes themselves thus - “an independent umbrella group comprising the Green Brigade, Celtic Trust, Celtic Supporters Association, Affiliation of Registered Celtic Supporters Clubs and Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs.”
All of those are officially recognised by Celtic FC. What do Celtic intend to do about it? Mumble a platitude or actually take action against those who support the death squads?
Press reports on this have been scanty and noticeable for the lack of any condemnatory edge - you can imagine the tone if Rangers fans had issued the Ballad of Michael Stone to raise a few bucks for imprisoned Bears.
I understand that to get onto iTunes you require both an authorised publisher as the middleman and approval from iTunes.
Perhaps iTunes should be made aware of this outrage?
