Those tuning in to BBC news for an extended insight into the thoughts of the new Chairman of Rangers may have to wait, but the soundbites made two things very clear:
1. The need to use a wider business model to find a buyer is essential, but he does believe it is a priority and achievable in the current climate.
2. Negotiations with Smith, whose contract runs out in January, now have a face-to-face edge, and are of great importance.
Alastair Johnston revealed that today was the first opportunity for him to meet and discuss matters with Bain and Smith since he became Chairman.
We can only hope that in the weeks and months to come his quest to find a new buyer - and to secure the future of the management of the Club - is successful and we can then begin to sort some of the other problems with the Rangers.
