At half-time during Sunday's LCF Radio Scotland went to Chick Young, who told us he had spoken to referee Craig Thomson.
Young told the panel that, contrary to what we had witnessed, whistler Thomson had intimated that he had NOT given Rangers a penalty, only to change his mind.
Thomson maintained he had not pointed to the spot.
It takes a brave man to change his mind. The last man to do so was famously drummed out of Scottish football.
Perhaps in the heat of the moment it all got to Thomson.
Perhaps we can understand that he was under great stress.
But it surely is not beyond the realm of the reasonable to ask exactly why the referee told Chick, who then told Radio Scotland, such a blatant untruth?
Look at his arm; look at the reaction of the hooped horrors.
Should we simply accept the officials being so free with the truth?
