Ibrox season tickets sales need to soar

Last updated : 17 June 2015 By Grandmaster Suck

The best thing a Rangers fan can do right now is to buy a season ticket.

Rangers fans now control the club.  It’s been a long hard fight to get rid of the Green Gang - under them the club was going nowhere - and the club would have been run for the benefit of them and their friends first and foremost: the evidence is there for all to see.

We’ve now got the club back under control - and that control is exercised by Bluenoses like King, Murray, Gilligan, Park etc on the Board, by major shareholders like Taylor and Letham, and by punters like you and I with our hundred quid here or thousand pound there shareholdings.  All of us can play our part.

Now that the club is safe we need to move to stage two - to provide Rangers with the funds to build a competitive team that will firstly win promotion and then have enough of a base to make the leap into the Premiership without the same massive rebuilding next summer.

The renegotiation of the Sports Direct deal will take its course and the directors will no doubt report back as soon as significant developments take place.  However, that is for them to sort out - we can play our part by keeping the pressure on SD.

The cash from season tickets outstrips every other source of income apart from the kind of unencumbered capital King, Taylor, Park, etc can and will bring to bear over the next year or so.

Season ticket money is like gold dust to the club - it is money up front for a product that won’t be finally delivered until the end of May next year - so by getting the cash in the bank now you allow the directors to plan with certainty.  It’s the biggest contribution an individual fan can make.

I’ve not had a season book for years as I liked to be in with the Blue Order and Union Bears or occasionally join pals in Bar 72 or elsewhere in the ground - but I’ve applied to go on the waiting list for next season.   If you can afford it please have a think about either renewing or applying for one - you will be advised of availability around 8th July.

Season ticket prices for 2015/16 start from as little as £53 for juveniles, £312 for adults and £210 for concessions and there are three easy ways for supporters to renew:-

- Online at www.rangers.co.uk/renew

- Via the season ticket hotline 0871 702 1972 (option 1 then 2)

- By post - returning form to the Rangers Ticket Centre

Supporters will start to receive their renewal forms in the post or by email this week and fans are encouraged to renew as quickly as possible before the renewal deadline of Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
