A note of explanation from the club reads as follows:-
"The Light Blues stated last week that if there was a replay the game should be this Wednesday but Hibs were against the idea and the SFA have now decided that the match will not take place until March.
"Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen said after yesterday's goal-less draw that he was open to playing the replay this week but the club opposed that today and the SFA then convened their Emergency Committee who decided on the following.
"If Rangers fail to progress in the UEFA Cup - ie get past Panathinaikos - then the Hibs replay will be played in the week beginning Monday, March 3. The winners will then take part in the quarter-finals on the weekend of March 8 and 9 against the winners of Partick Thistle and Livingston, who replay next week.
"If Rangers get past the Greeks then the Hibs game will take place on the weekend of March 8 and 9.
"If Rangers win this match they will then play their quarter-final tie in the week beginning Monday, March 17.
"All of this will impact on the outstanding SPL matches that Rangers still have to play.
"Dates have yet to be fixed for Celtic (a) and St Mirren (a) and the Motherwell match, scheduled for Fir Park on March 15, will now also move as Rangers play in the CIS Cup Final on March 16."
