Celtic veterans’ challenge
The Dubai Old Firm Desert Challenge Cup will be held on Wednesday the
27th of April 2005 at the Dubai Exiles Rugby Football Club. Doors open
at 7pm and the match kicks off at 830pm. VIP tickets, which include
complimentary food and beverages, are priced at AED 300, standard adult
tickets AED 90 and children AED 30. Tickets can be purchased from the
Exiles Rugby Club, Saturday through Thursday from 9am to 12pm and 2pm
to 6pm or through the Time Out Ticketline on 800 4669.
“This is an event for the real football fan – everyone, certainly
amongst the UAE’s British community will have grown up with these
names, and this event offers fans of all ages – not just Rangers and
Celtic fans – the chance to enjoy a day out with a difference,”

Household names such as Mark Walters, John Collins, Andy Goram and
Frank McAvennie have all confirmed their presence, which promises to
provide a unique atmosphere in which Dubai’s football fans will get a
chance to see some top footballers in the flesh.

“This is the first time that this kind of Old Firm event has been held
outside of the UK, and, as any football fan is aware, when you get
these two sides together, a classic encounter is always on the cards.”
A host of other international stars to have played for the two Glasgow
giants between 1986 and 1999 have also been lined up, including; Gordon
Smith, Derek Whyte, Gordon Durie, Graham Roberts, Lee Martin and Terry
Hurlock.
