Fans Working Group Statement regarding the Maribor match

Last updated : 23 August 2011 By Fans Working Group

We would thank the fans for their continued tremendous support both home and away so far this season, and there has been great strides made in eliminating offensive singing from our fans since the PSV matches..

It is important however that we do not let our guard down, especially with the Maribor match being next up, and the suspended sentence hanging over us for any repeat offence from the PSV game where the FARE report led to UEFA sanctions. We would remind fans that any mention of Fenian’s FTP or The Billy Boys is banned and will lead to sanctions being taken against the club, which will mean a closed doors game at Ibrox for us.

It is also expected that the Anti-Sectarian Initiative Police unit will again be in attendance at this match, keeping up their 100% record of being in attendance at all Rangers games since their creation, and whilst they will again be recording with cameras and making reports on our behaviour, it is important we again give them nothing to report about.

We are sure the Rangers fans will again show that we support our team and celebrate our heritage in a positive manner and we hope for a result that ensures our participation in the Europa League Group Stage.
