Most of Europe is reaching the end of season. I thought I'd have a wee look at how some of Rangers European opponents of recent years are faring.
In Austria STURM GRAZ are 20 points off the pace set by Austria Wien. With only 7 games left the best the men from the Arnold Shwarzenegger Stadium could expect is 2nd place.
CLUB BRUGGE hold an 11 point lead over Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler Ligue. Past Champions League opponents, we may face them again next season.
In the Cypriot League, ANORTHOSIS FAMAGUSTA, that provided tough oppoosition for a Gers team including Paul Gascoigne, are in 2nd place, a point behind Omonia, who have a game in hand.
VIKTORIA ZIZKOV wont be repeating last seasons escapades when they almost won the Czech League. They lie 4th, 17 points behind Sparta, and a UEFA Cup palce is only a possibility.
In France, MONACO lie 2nd, 3 points behind Lyon with a game in hand. Other past opponents MARSEILLE lie 4th, only 5 pts adrift with a game in hand. STRASBOURG are involved in arelegation dog-fight, but shoudl survive another year.
In Germany, Dortmund just beat Bayern, but MUNCHEN still ahve a 12 point lead over BORUSSIA. LEVERKUSEN are still fighting relegation, and FC COLOGNE lead the 2nd Division.
In the Netherlands, PSV have an 8 pt lead over AJAX, with FEYENOORD a further 4 points adrift.
In Serie A, JUVE hold a 6 point lead over Inter.
The Russian league has just started, so its hard to tell how MOSCOW DYNAMO, ANZI MAKALACHAKA, and ALANIYA VLADIKAVKAZ will fare. Moscow lie 3rd with 10 pts from 5 games, and ALANIYA have 9. ANZI got relegated last season.
In the former Yugoslavia, Red Star face Partizan over Easter. Partizan have a 17 point lead, and this is RED STAR's final chance to force a stumble.
In Slovenia, MARIBOR are 3rd, 4 points behind leaders, Olimpija.
VALENCIA lie 4th in La Liga, 11 points behind star-studded Real Madrid.
GALATASARAY have a narrow lead over Besiktas in Turkey. FENERBAHCE lie 5th, and can only expect a UEFA Cup spot.
