I speak of course of the decision to allow the Celtic v Arsenal game and the U2 concert to both go ahead tonight despite the predicted traffic chaos.
In recent years Strathclyde's Finest have cried off of providing policing at both games at Parkhead and the Bonfire Night celebrations at Glasgow Green and the vast majority of the population of the city are denied the ability to celebrate the defeat of a conspiracy against democracy.
But then, of course, what is 400 years plus of tradition compared with councillors using their seats at Celtic Park?
Priorities seem to be an ever-changing kaleidoscope for the great and the good in our fair city. Things that only yesterday were deemed impossible can be made possible today if the will is there.
The cynical amongst us may ponder that if the Bonfire Night celebrations were to mark the success of a terrorist conspiracy by a tiny band of religious fanatics there might have been no problems from the council in the first place.
