STATEMENT FROM THE BLUE ORDER
As most people would have expected once the fixtures were announced, The Blue Order were naturally keen to have a display against our opponents from the North, even though the time frame was limited to a week.
The Blue Order did have an impressive display planned, taking us up a level on the display front, including strips of red white and blue material attached to Broomloan rear and held at the front of the Broomloan front section on either sides of the Broomloan front.
With cards in between the vertical sections of material, with our signature Blue Order banner in the middle, which I'm sure you will agree, would have looked impressive.
Surprisingly we have hit some red tape with the club, and they have not allowed the strips of material, on the basis of it covering the advertising boards, we dealt with this minor issue, by contacting the affected sponsor directly, which of course they had no problem with, but there was no recourse with the club.
While we were disappointed that the club were not even willing to reconsider or compromise with us over any part of these plans, basically telling us it's a card display only. What we now find more disappointing is that Rangers have given in to Aberdeen over their display plans. After originally telling them they could have no display, and then changing it to the display being allowed but no banners, we now find out that Rangers are letting them have their display and their banners. Rangers were willing to reconsider Aberdeen's display plans but not those of the Blue Order.
The Blue Order have done a number of very successful card displays this year, and wanted to take our display to the next level, and we feel it is a waste of time and effort to have another basic card display for the Aberdeen game.
We are continually trying to take things forward and better ourselves on the display front, and we will.
The Blue Order.
